What I Didn’t Tell You in My Video
Blogging Through the Book…Made To Crave by Lysa TerKeurst
I had a blast with all of you on our Made to Crave Facebook online study this week. It went really fast, so I will be posting some ideas of how to get ourselves better organized this week.
Did you have a chance to watch the youtube video I posted this week about how our mindset has a huge impact on the results we will get? If we constantly verbalize excuses and justifications (I can’t, There’s no way, I travel) then we eventually start believing those excuses and behave accordingly. And what results do we get? The same as always…frustration and no weight loss. Here is the video if you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. See-Do-Get Video
To overcome our mindset, we must renew our minds by taking a daily bath in scripture and be grounded in truth. That is why I am encouraging you to memorize some of the suggested scripture at the back of the book.
Here is what I didn’t tell you in the video…Monday night, right before our first Made to Crave online session, I crammed my face with icing from 3 cupcakes! I had been reviewing a school all day, traveled 3.5 hours home and I was exhausted. When I walked in the door, there they were in all of their sugary glory.
Ok – listen to all of those justifications to be reactive to food – tired, traveling, the cupcakes were waiting for me. Now mind you, I just ate the icing, not the whole cupcakes.
On the way home, I had thought I would call Hannah and tell her to throw those devilish cupcakes out. I knew they would be a temptation for me. But, for whatever reason, I didn’t. Well, ok, I know the reason – the lust of the flesh.
Part of my memory work this week is 1 John 2:16…For all that is in this world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
I definitely let the lust of the flesh and eyes run amuck while eating that icing. And we can’t blame Satan for everything. I bought those cupcakes my ownself. There are temptations that come from simply living in this world. But we don’t have to act on them – we CHOOSE to act on them.
To begin re-writing those scripts in our heads, I want you to do something for me. Take a notecard or journal page and write down all of your rationalizations/excuses. When you are done, write across the card or page, OVERRULED!
What’s overruling it? 2 Corinthians 10:5, We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ…
