Lesson 7…A High Priest Forever!
Jesus Entered Within the Veil…Hebrews 6:19-20
I simply love how Hebrews 6 ended. Jesus, being our high priest, entered within the veil. Why is that such a big deal? Because ONLY the high priest could enter behind the veil in the tabernacle once a year on the day of atonement (Yom Kippur) to offer sacrifice for the sins of the people. And when mortals are high priest, this had to be repeated over and over because the high priests were humans, and thus, sinful.
But when Jesus came, according to the order of Mechizedek’s priesthood, He entered behind the veil ONE TIME and offered the perfect sacrifice. In Matthew 27:51, it tells us that the temple veil was torn from top to bottom at Christ’s crucifixion…whew…holy chill bumps!
I desperately want you to have a firm grasp of the tabernacle furniture and the process of sacrifices. Take a few minutes and watch this animation of what happened so you can have a HALLELUJAH moment as we get closer to Hebrews 9! Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Oe-JPE-Eu4.
